What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy that helps individuals process difficult experiences. This can result in a decrease in emotional distress and improve well-being. You can read more about EMDR here.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR Intensive is an immersive treatment approach using EMDR therapy.

The intensive approach involves extended therapy sessions over a 2 to 5 day period for 4-6 hours per day. This intensive format allows you to explore your issues at an accelerated pace. This concentrated approach allows for focused attention and rapid progress.

Benefits of EMDR Intensives

For some the idea of spending hours to weeks focussing on a difficult experience(s) may seem daunting. There are several benefits of an intensive approach including:

Accelerated Progress

The intensive format of EMDR can lead to faster progress compared to weekly sessions. This can be ideal if you are eager to make significant strides in a shorter amount of time.

Increased Focus and Continuity

Frequent sessions allow you to maintain focus and momentum throughout the process. This can prevent distractions or interruptions that may occur between weekly sessions.

Greater Emotional Processing

Provides a safe and supportive environment to fully process distressing experiences. This can lead to deeper healing and resolution of trauma-related symptoms.

Enhanced Therapeutic Connection

Spending extended time with an EMDR therapist can strengthen trust. This facilitates greater openness and vulnerability.

Time Efficiency

You can achieve significant progress in a shorter time frame.

Reduced Disruption

By dedicating a block of time for healing, you can minimize disruptions to everyday life.

Cost-Effectiveness

EMDR Intensives ultimately cost less money without sacrificing therapeutic gain.
