Individual Psychotherapy Services

Benefits of Individual Psychotherapy

People start individual psychotherapy for a myriad of reasons, with different symptoms and problems. Are you reading about us because you’re distressed or struggling with something? Interested in seeing if we can help you? We have helped many people who have dealt with:

  • Addiction
  • Trauma
  • Phobias
  • Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety
  • Trouble in their relationships
  • Life transitions
  • Codependency

The first few sessions involve you and your therapist working collaboratively to identify what and how psychotherapy can be helpful to you. We are active in the therapeutic process, and work compassionately to help you understand the root causes of your discomfort or dilemma.

Therapy often builds on the momentum of previous sessions. Because of this, it is most helpful when people attend therapy regularly, once or twice per week. It allows for you and your therapist to more quickly and easily jump into the work of therapy, so that you can start feeling better faster.

Our job is to work ourselves out of a job. Therapy is done when you feel like you’ve gotten out of it what you need, and there isn’t further work that you’re interested in doing with your therapist. This could be a few weeks, months, or years after your first session. It depends on the person and the symptoms. Sometimes people come back to therapy in a few months or a few years after saying goodbye, it depends on what they need. To the best of our abilities, our doors stay open for our returning patients.
