Psychotherapy for the LGTBQ+ Community

Empowering LGBTQ+ People

Psychotherapists who get LGBTQ+ Issues

Rock Creek Therapy strives to provide a safe and welcoming space for any and all people in the LGBTQ+ community. Some of our therapists are queer and all of our therapists are supporters and allies of LGBTQ+ people.

Treating patients with the utmost respect and dignity is at the core of our professional and personal values. Because members of the LGBTQ+ community are at increased risk of mental health concerns, we especially hope to provide empowering psychotherapy as you identify what you need to grow and thrive.

Psychotherapists with Experience with Sexuality, Gender, and Nagivating Coming Out

We frequently help patients explore their feelings about themselves as well as the relationships they have with others in their lives. Many conversations in therapy may be unrelated to one’s gender identity or sexual orientation, but keeping in mind these aspects of identity can be important in understanding ourselves and how we exist in our environments better.

We provide psychotherapy to treat various mental health concerns, relationship issues, trauma, addictions, losses, and changes. We are affirming and supportive of you no matter what you choose to work on in therapy.

Our team is experienced with helping people better understand their sexuality, gender, and navigating coming out. We recognize that identity and attraction are not static, our understandings of ourselves change and develop over time. We also commonly help people look at relationship dynamics, including non-monogamous relationships.

We are able to write letters of support for gender affirming care. However, as we do not have psychologists or doctors as part of our team, we cannot provide assessments.

We are licensed to provide pychotherapy to residents of D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, and Michigan.
